choosing an outfit for mother's day minis


Our Mother's Day Mini session is right around the corner, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to share some info on choosing an outfit for this specific session! The thing I like to remind people is that you do not need to spend a ton on outfits if you don't want too (BUT - if you want to use this as an excuse to splurge on outfits, I am all for it!). Often you can find things in your closet you already own or go to the thrift store and pick up something cute. I often find I have a lot of items in my closet, but can't necessarily picture how to put them together in a way that is cute. So for me, styling can be the biggest barrier.


Let's talk colours...


Below you will find some options for outfits you can click to shop. Some of them I actually saw at Walmart this week (04/13/2024). I would try and stick to colours like cream, brown, mustard, light pink, black, and blue jeans. I would avoid bright pink, navy, and white (it'll be too close to the backdrop - see below).

In it, it talks about the backdrop for the photoshoot and making sure you don't blend in too much. For this session, the backdrop will be woodsy & white sheets on the line vibe. So maybe don't dress in all white, because you'll just kind of blend in and we want a little contrast!

I also put together this pinterest board with a few ideas! You'll notice it ranges from cute summery dresses to jeans and a cute top. You don't need to be super dressed up for this shoot, so go with what is comfortable!

This image is inspo for the Mother's Day Mini session! It won't be exactly like this, I actually plan to have a few layers of texture (think vintage tablecloth meets doily, but in a cute way).
