To capture authentic and candid moments with your kids, they need to feel comfortable - here are a few tips to plan a fun shoot that your kids will love...
tip #1 | Choose an activity over a location
It can be tempting to choose a beautiful location with flowers in the background, overlooking the ocean, or the forest. However, take a minute to think "will this be fun for the kids"?
IF THE ANSWER IS NO...
You may want to consider an activity over a location. Go to the park, fishing, visit your favourite swimming hole. The trick is to choose something your family already likes to do, or an idea your kids have suggested. This way they will have more fun, and therefore be more comfortable, and your photographer will capture those candid moments during your shoot!
tip #2 | Bring a prop
There are so many cute props you can add to a photoshoot! Adding a prop gives your kids something to focus on, which may help them stay in one place for longer than 3 seconds - win! And, it will add some uniqueness to your images.

It's best to choose something that represents your family. An example is if your family loves going to the movies, bring popcorn in those cute little containers. tip #3 | stay home
What do you remember most about your childhood? I bet it includes hanging out in your backyard, maybe playing in your pool, watching your parents bbq dinner, running through the sprinkler, tenting out overnight with your siblings. There's really something super special about a photoshoot in the place there you spend the most of your time. This is how you capture those core memories your kids will cherish.
